Our Vision
Our Vision
At Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, we are committed to helping every person believe in Jesus, belong to a family, become a disciple and build His kingdom. We believe everyone needs the hope Jesus offers, so our passion is to help people find that hope and grow in a relationship with Him. We envisioned a community full of believers, faithful to God's commandments and living a spiritually led Christian lives.
“Therefore go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you, always, to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:19-20.
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20.
Our Mission
Our Mission
Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church - Bakersfield is a community dedicated to seeking God and serving people.
Our Missions are:
*To proclaim the Gospel and make disciples of all kinds of people. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matt. 28:19-20). "And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).
*To serve as a community of faith, worship, fellowship and to manifest the presence and love of Jesus in our daily life activities. "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them" (Matt. 18:20).
* To nurture believers and prepare them to perform works of ministry in spreading the Gospel. "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ..." (Eph. 4:11-12).
*To continue to be the beacon of light to those who are lost and bring them back to the Lord. "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden" (Matt. 5:13-14).
Our Community
Our Community
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching". Hebrews 10:24-25
The church brings to the believer the distinctively Christian quality of faith, hope and love. Thus, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church is the community of Christian believers whose lives are anchored in faith, hope and love. We consider all our brothers and sisters who are believers of Jesus Christ as our community that works with us in spreading the Good News about the Savior. The very existence of Mt. Zion MBC as a community of believers for 136 years and counting is a manifestation of God's glory and wisdom.
During the pastorate of Rev. Green, Mt. Zion became a member of: 1. St. John District Association with Rev. Green as Moderator for many years; 2. California Baptist State Convention where Rev. Green served as 1st Vice President; 3. National Baptist Convention
