As Pastor of Mt. Zion, Rev. Calhoun’s primary duty is to spread the Word of God and shepherd followers seeking spiritual guidance, as taught in 1Peter 5:2-4 which say: “Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversignt thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind. Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.” Pastor Calhoun have seemingly endless responsibilities on his  plate that include responding 24/7 to calls from church members. In any given week, he delivers a Sunday sermon, lead weekly bible-study groups, develop new programs, visit shut-ins, perform last-rites, and minister to the youth. In fulfillment of his calling, Pastor Calhoun dedicates himself to studying the Bible and preaching Sunday sermons that are core to the Christian tradition,  engaging, timely and relevant to what’s happening in the world today.

We, the Associate Ministers of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, are here to support our Pastor, Rev. Hiawatha T. Calhoun, and to preach the Word of God when requested by Him.  We are called to church ministry, loves people, and have a passion for evangelism. We have a passion for the Word of God and ready to proclaim the Word of God with conviction and confidence, as taught by 2Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction.” We see to it that the church service starts on time and open the service by reading a Scripture, join the devotion team when needed, lead the Responsive Reading, Prayer, and assist in the Lord Supper every first Sunday of the month. Also, accept the responsibility of being a Sunday School Superintendent and make sure the Church Sunday School is running smoothly as we explore regularly the Word of God.
