On July 20, 1983 Rev. H.T. Calhoun was elected as Pastor to succeed Rev. Dirks. Rev. Calhoun’s motto/theme has been “Come Grow With Us”. Under Rev. Calhoun’s leadership, the church now have a ministry to address the needs of most facets of life, it is called “We Care Ministry”.

Under Rev. Calhoun’s pastorate three men have been called into the ministry - Carrel Cade, Nathaniel Sanders and Freddie Buckner. T.C. Wilson has been called into Street Evangelism.

Mt. Zion continues to strive with the time in spreading the Good News and with the leadership of Rev. Calhoun, the church continues to grow and exists with guidance of the Almighty God.

Mt. Zion is now existing for 136 years and counting. We pay tribute to the many leaders and saints who have set the precedence and pace for us. It is because of the many dedicated “children of God, who have gone on before us so that this day Mt. Zion can Rejoice”. But, most importantly, Mt. Zion can “Rejoice” because of God’s goodness in bringing us to what we are today.

Mt. Zion faced challenges during its 136 years of existence but with faith in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, it continues to be a beacon of light for those who are lost and seeking the Lord.

Indeed, Mt. Zion is marching on with this stalwart Christian leadership of Rev. H.T. & Sis Linda Calhoun at the helm up to this present time. May the Lord bless them as they continue to Shepherd God’s flock of believers in the church. Indeed, let Mt. Zion Rejoice and continue to be a Beacon of Light for many more years to come.
